Norwich Croquet Club extends a warm welcome to all who are interested in playing this tactical, absorbing and enjoyable game.
Visiting the ClubWhere are we?
Croquet is a game that suits all ages with many top players actually starting later in life – it is also the only game in which men and women can play against each other in serious competition as well as for fun.
All you need are flat soled shoes, and possibly warm clothing early in the year as it can be chilly. Everything else you need to play Croquet; mallets, hoops and balls etc, will be provided by the Club.
Visitors are welcome at our free Come and try Croquet session on Sunday 4th June or to come to any of our regular Club sessions on Tuesday, Thursday or Saturday mornings and Thursday evenings. Visitors to the club are charged a flat rate of £5.00 per session up to 5 sessions after that it is hoped you will join the Club. To see our charging policy and find out more about the subscription please click on the Charging Policy and Subs button above.
We are also able to put on Private/Corporate Group Sessions for Clubs, Societies or Business Houses for up to 16 people - if you are interested in a Group visit please click Group Visits for more information
Corporate visitors and groups only need flat soled shoes and in the spring and evenings some warm clothes, everything else you need to play Croquet will be provided by the Club.
At Norwich we play both the Association and Golf game, our experienced players are usually on hand to help and encourage. The Club has qualified Coaches and Referees who are able to provide Coaching for new members on all aspects of Croquet
Our Clubhouse beside the court provides equipment storage, a place for member’s coats and bags together with excellent catering and seating arrangements plus toilets.
Our Season proper runs from Easter to late September but with our new lawn maintenance scheme in place hardier members now play on into the winter. The Club holds regular all-day tournaments which many members compete in. Members bring their own lunches and these are very popular sociable events with friendly competition. Occasionally during the season the lawn may be reserved for tournaments and inter-club matches. Please look at our Calendar for an overall picture. Members also meet during the winter for a lunch and indoor fixtures.
